The Event

Wynnum locals had a great afternoon at the most enjoyable Melbourne Cup event of the area.

The profits from ticket sales and raffles came to a just under $3,000. The chosen charity for the event was Play 4 a Cure Ltd, who not only raises funds for cancer research, but also assists cancer patients and their families in their time of need.

Our local founder, Leigh Martyn, said “It was a great turnout and a lovely afternoon and this money will be a great help to the amazing cancer research scientists, who more often than not, have to fund their own work.  We are doing what we can to help them #endcancer.”

The Fat Duck were sensational hosts, providing guests with their tantalising tapas and keeping the refreshments flowing.  In addition to the $500 in raffle prize vouchers, they also donated part of the ticket price.  A huge thank you to a venue keen and willing to be an active part of their community.

The day would not have run as smoothly without the support of our local Bendigo Community Bank Wynnum-Manly, who donated the EFTPOS machines to get those raffle ticket sales up.  They also gifted a brand new Apple iPad which went to a very luck raffle ticket winner.  Thank you to Justine, Karen and the Bendigo team.

A big thank you also goes out to our other raffle donors:

Over $4,000 in prizes were given away to our lucky winners which left the rest of us with a slight touch of jealousy.
