A fantastical and whimsical sub-tropical rainforest named “Cultivation Lane”.
Cultivation Lane was the first of many for Wynnum Commerce Inc. Adjacent to boutique homewares store Cultivate Design Co on Bay Terrace, the mural is part of the Laneways Project to regenerate the lost urban spaces in Wynnum.
The aim of the Laneways Project is to create beautiful and meaningful wall murals to inspire, educate and create a sense of place. This in turn will make Wynnum a more attractive destination to both locals and visitors.
Cultivate Design owner and project coordinator Holly Bambridge said, “The design finds the balance between the natural and man-made world. This large painted feature responds directly to the surrounding area, which includes a diverse range of independent retail offerings in a unique strip shopping setting. These are the places customers seek and explore. This energy is reflected in the mural-creating a space where viewers can explore and discover little details the more they look”.
Funding was provided by both Wynnum Commerce Inc. and Brisbane City Council sponsorship.
Artwork was undertaken by All City Walls.
